What Foods Cause Acne?

Acne is a common skin condition and it affects nearly 10% of the world’s population. Many factors are contributing to the development of acne.

These are including sebum and keratin production, acne-causing bacteria, hormones, blocked pores, and inflammation. The acne has been controversial, but recent research is showing. This diet can play a significant role in acne development. There are following some list of foods that cause acne:

Refined Grains and Sugars

People with acne are tending to consume more refined carbohydrates than people with little or no acne. Acne-causing foods are including:

  • White flour is making bread, crackers, cereal or desserts.
  • Pasta is madding with white flour.
  • White rice and rice noodles.
  • Sodas and other sugar-sweetened beverages.
  • Sweeteners are including cane sugar, maple syrup, honey or agave.

Dairy Products

Milk products are acne severity in teenagers. Who are regularly consumed milk or ice cream that were four times more likely to suffer from acne.

Milk is increasing insulin levels and independent of its effects on blood sugar. It may worsen acne severity and cow’s milk is containing amino acids that stimulate the liver to produce more IGF-1. It has been linked to the development of acne.

Fast Food

Acne is one of the strongly associated with eating a Western-style diet rich in calories, fat and refined carbohydrates.  These fast food items are including burgers, nuggets, hot dogs, French fries, sodas, and milkshakes. Foods because acne are mainstays of a typical Western diet and may increase acne risk.

Foods Rich in Omega-6 Fats

Diets are containing large amounts of omega-6 fatty acids, like the typical Western diet. This have been linked to increased levels of inflammation and acne.

This may be because Western diets contain large amounts of corn and soy oils, which are rich in omega-6 fats, and few foods that contain omega-3 fats, like fish and walnuts. This imbalance of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids pushes the body into an inflammatory state, which may worsen acne severity.

Chocolate

Chocolate is a suspected acne trigger, but so far and no consensus has been reached. Several informal surveys are eating chocolate with an increased risk of developing acne. But, this is not proving that chocolate causes acne. Who consumed 25 grams of 99% dark chocolate daily and it had an increased number of acne lesions after just two weeks.
