Why Your Business Needs to be on Social Media

It’s a struggle to find the perfect lighting and setting for the absolute best Instagram post. It’s all about waiting until the right moment to catch that beautiful sunset at its peak before darkness takes over. Then you get to your car and see that you have used all the available storage on your phone because you took more than two hundred pictures in 15 minutes. If you haven’t experienced this then chances are you aren’t on Instagram.

Why Your Business Needs Instagram | Instagram for Small Businesses

Instagram is more than just showing off your savvy picture skills from your iPhone. It is a strong tool for businesses to market themselves to a different audience. It also allows them to interact with consumers in a social environment to gain feedback and provide assistance.

No need to run out and take a selfie… But you will want to check out these statistics.

  • 500+ Million monthly active users

  • 300+ Million daily active users

  • 4.2 Billion likes daily

  • 95+ Million daily photos/videos

  • 210,000 photos posted every minute

If those numbers aren’t persuasive enough to become an Instagrammer then check out all these statistics.

Listen Up… the NUMBERS DON’T LIE

A study found that Instagram users were 58 more times likely to like, comment, or share a brand’s post than on Facebook and 120 times more likely than Twitter users. The higher engagement is fueled by the visually driven consumer because they would rather share their experiences and stories in images and videos rather than write about them. A picture is worth a thousand words and no one reads a thousand words anymore.

Engagement is at an all-time high and only rising. Don’t worry we are talking about the measurement of shares, likes and comments. We aren’t nagging you to get hitched, but that does make for a cute Instagram post. So, Instagram’s engagement has grown at a rate of 53% year-over-year. Almost three-quarters of brands are posting at least one photo or video a week on Instagram.

Everyone is taking notice

It seems like brands got the memo because the number of active brands is increasing. Everyone is flocking to Instagram. Almost 30% of the total U.S. population uses the photo-sharing website. There is young blood on the app because more than half of all millennials use Instagram every day. It is the hot social network to be on nowadays.

Its popularity is due not only to its simplicity but driven by the new way information is consumed. It is a relatively easy app to use and it is easy to portray your brand. Users can see (literally) what the company is about and who helps them out. It gives users the chance to decide what they see and what they don’t. That makes sense, right? Well if they are following you on Instagram, then turns out they like you and your brand.  It is the simplicity that gives it such popularity among different audiences.
